Cleanse Off Mitt by Jennifer Rock

After seeing so many contrasting opinions on the Cleanse Off Mitt by Jennifer Rock (aka The Skin Nerd), I was in two minds about purchasing it and giving it a go myself. I'm all for the #BinTheWipes campaign, but I was also hesitant because I have quite sensitive skin and I was afraid that the rubbing would irritate my skin. In the end, my mom ended up buying me one (thanks mom!), and I have to say that I am very impressed.

So firstly, let's establish what the Cleanse Off Mitt claims to do. Here's what it says on the website:
"The Cleanse Off Mitt quickly removes all makeup naturally – including mascara! The Cleanse Off Mitt is designed to remove all traces of makeup with just the mitt, ie. no cleanser is needed. It is also ideal as a precleanse option before your regular cleanser. Place your hand into the Mitt, just add warm water and remove all makeup/pollution etc. from the face. Easy peasy! Quick and affordable! Reusable!"
That, to me, sounds pretty impressive. The question is, does it fulfil all of these promises?

The first time I put it to the test, I had a full face of makeup on. It was late and I was tired. I just wanted to take my makeup off quickly and easily and go to sleep. Following the instructions, I ran my mitt under warm water and began rubbing away my makeup. At first, I looked like I had two black eyes and a severe nosebleed or split lip (the joys of mascara and lipstick), but after rinsing my mitt and repeating the process, my face was left looking pretty clean. I'll admit, there was the slightest amount of mascara residue left along my lash line, but I wasn't too bothered about that as I always double cleanse anyway. One thing I was curious about was whether or not the rubbing would irritate my sensitive skin, but thankfully,  it causes no discomfort or irritation whatsoever.

To clean your Cleanse Off Mitt after each use, all you have to do is wash it with antibacterial soap and allow it to dry. Once a week, just pop it in the wash inside out and you're good to go. I know that some people suggest having two, but I don't see the point as I hang it up to dry every night, and it's always dry by the morning. In saying that, I always have a spare at hand.

To sum it all up, I think that the Cleanse Off Mitt is a really gentle and natural alternative to makeup wipes. It is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin and conditions such as acne, eczema, and rosacea. It is also very affordable. Of course, I know that it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely gets a big thumbs up from me!

  1. I got a similar thing in one of my boxes and I think this a gift sent from heaven, especially for travelling / holidays or when you're just too tired to do the full routine. Totally agree, it's a great product!

  2. I m using it too. Very happy with it, but after a few washes some of the mascara stains did not come out completely. but they are cheap enough to replace every so often
